Exposição de Miriam Inez da Silva inaugura em Goiânia
Cerrado Galeria apresenta exposição para celebrar as obras de Miriam Inez da Silva (1937–1996), em Goiânia.
A mostra, intitulada “Miriam Inez da Silva: a sala dos milagres a as crônicas fabulosas da alegria”, conta com curadoria de Divino Sobral e reúne um acervo de 83 obras entre xilogravuras e pinturas a óleo sobre madeira, executadas entre os anos 1960 e 1990. É exposição com maior número de obras da artista já realizada no Brasil e a única individual feita em Goiânia.
A exibição conjuga pinturas e gravuras em uma montagem que alude às salas de ex-votos dos centros de romaria no interior do Brasil, com as paredes da galeria tomadas por obras articuladas em torno de 8 núcleos temáticos: a influência do sagrado; o amor; música, dança e festa; circo, teatro, jogos e parque de diversão; cotidiano e costumes; mitologias; poética do voo; infância. O conjunto revela o humor e a ironia presentes na crítica social criada pela artista ao mesmo tempo em que expressava sua alegria de viver, seu gosto pela fantasia, sua diversão com a transgressão.
Miriam foi artista erudita que optou por realizar representações de aparência popular. Sua formação na Escola Goiana de Belas Artes no seio do modernismo goiano foi influenciada pelo pensamento religioso, pelo culto à arte popular. Disso resultou uma produção ao mesmo tempo tradicional e moderna, conservadora e irreverente, relato e imaginação.
A exposição está aberta a visitação até o dia 10 de junho na Cerrado Galeria, em Goiânia.

Cerrado Galeria presents an exhibition celebrating the works of Miriam Inez da Silva (1937-1996) in Goiânia.
The show, entitled “Miriam Inez da Silva: a sala dos milagres a as crônicas fabulosas da alegria”, is curated by Divino Sobral and brings together a collection of 83 works including woodcuts and oil paintings on wood, executed between the 1960s and 1990s. It is the exhibition with the largest number of works by the artist ever held in Brazil and the only solo show held in Goiânia.
The exhibition combines paintings and engravings in a set-up that alludes to the ex-votos rooms of pilgrimage centers in the interior of Brazil, with the gallery walls taken up by works articulated around 8 thematic nuclei: the influence of the sacred; love; music, dance and partying; circus, theater, games and amusement parks; daily life and customs; mythologies; poetics of flight; childhood. The set reveals the humor and irony present in the social criticism created by the artist, while at the same time expressing her joy of life, her taste for fantasy and her enjoyment of transgression.
Miriam was an erudite artist who chose to create popular-looking representations. Her training at the Escola Goiana de Belas Artes in the heart of Goiás modernism was influenced by religious thought and the cult of popular art. This resulted in a production that was both traditional and modern, conservative and irreverent, storytelling and imagination.
The exhibition is open until June 10 at Cerrado Galeria in Goiânia.
